May 2014

It's hard to sum up May with just one photo.
Filled with family, graduation, birthday, Mother's Day,
spring, sun, newness, rebirth.
This photo depicts a day at the Getty Villa in Malibu.
Completely surprising venue. The complex marble floor
reflects the intricacy of
the entire museum dedicated to John Paul Getty's vast collection
of Greek and Roman art,
and other antiquities.

April 2014
We explored New Mexico for a week and I fell in love.
The sky is just as Georgia O'Keeffe painted it. The air dry and clear.
The colors muted yet stunning.
The photo is taken from the top of the Rio Grande Bridge outside of Taos.

What's Old Is New Again.
I've been visiting Del Amo Fashion Mall since 1973 when I first moved to the South Bay.
It was cool when it opened and after decades of no updates it became very stale and depressing.
Well, someone bought it and is breathing new life into it. An open air shopping area, a new Nordstrom under construction, tear down of half the mall and building of an entire new mall.
I could not believe how contemporary the food court had become.
And here was Santa, nine months early, having lunch.

Animals of South America
I traveled to Peru, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands in 2009.
Seeing the native animals up close left an indelible mark on me.
My motivation for visiting the Galapagos were the tortoises.
I am attracted to the metaphor of the tortoise. He/she can go inside
when needed, and come out when they please.
Here is a link to the book I created compiling the best of my
animal photos:
