A remarkable moment.

My husband discovered a hummingbird nest in our orange tree.

It appears to be lined with dryer lint.

And it is so small it could barely hold a walnut!

We have two hummingbird feeders in front of windows

and it is an utter delight to watch them flutter

and feed.

The poor air quality makes for stunning
sunsets in Southern California.

This was a last minute shot from my
back yard.

I posted it on Flickr and EXPLORE on Flickr
picked it up. There are now over 8,300 views!
Who knew. I think the color and the path of the
waning utility poles lead you in. Also, the
juxtaposition of the beauty vs. the intruding
poles, add to the interest.

Reflecting on 2014....it was a very good year.
This 'shadow artist' emerged and was
received with open arms and
encouragement.

some unexpected surprises!

The highlight of the month had to be seeing this
magnificent Beluga whale at the Mystic, CT
aquarium.
I had never seen one in person before and they
are simply stunning.
I loved the way the trainer interacted with this guy
by clicking her walkie-talkie.
It's a world class aquarium with dynamic trainers and
staff very willing to share their knowledge.
